We understand many of you were looking forward to this event, and we share your disappointment. We want to take a moment to explain why this decision was made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The WordPress Community Team\u2019s primary goal is to support and nurture the WordPress community by enabling organizers to create amazing events that celebrate WordPress, its community, and <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/community\/handbook\/wordcamp-organizer\/become-an-organizer\/representing-wordpress\/\">globally shared values<\/a>. The Community team cannot support the event if a WordCamp is not aligned with these values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/community\/handbook\/meetup-organizer\/meetup-program-basics\/#the-five-good-faith-rules\">WordPress events benefit the WordPress community as a whole, not specific businesses or individuals<\/a>. The Community Team expects that WordCamps decisions should be guided by the community\u2019s collective wisdom and not influenced by any one company\u2019s interests. When companies attempt to exert influence on the planning process, the Community Team must step in to mediate. In this instance, we have decided to cancel WordCamp Dhaka 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While this is a setback, the Community Team believes that the Dhaka WordPress Community can face these challenges and, together, create a stronger community with opportunities for everyone interested in WordPress. We are very interested in helping local community members create this community, with an emphasis on the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Collaborative organization: Meetups can be organized by anyone and are best when they are the result of collaborative efforts within the community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Companies uplifting the community: Companies are an important part of the WordPress community and can help create opportunities for everyone.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Greater diversity in participation: WordPress communities welcome everyone, regardless of gender, company affiliations, and background. This applies to all levels of participation when organizing WordPress events, and we expect to see this diversity in speakers, sponsors, organizers, volunteers, as well as participants.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We believe the Dhaka community can create a community that celebrates these values and as a result, create amazing opportunities where everyone is welcome to participate.
