What Is Contributor Day?
Contributor Day is a dedicated time for attendees to give back to the WordPress project. It’s a collaborative, hands-on day where people of all skill levels (technical or non-technical) can make meaningful contributions to different WordPress teams. Whether it’s writing code, translating strings, improving documentation, testing, or community outreach, there’s something for everyone.
Why You Should Join
- Connect with Experts & Peers
Meet core contributors, table leads, and fellow WordPress enthusiasts from Bangladesh and beyond. - Learn by Doing
You’ll get real mentorship and guidance. Mistakes are welcomed as part of the learning process. - See Tangible Impact
Many contributions made during Contributor Day may be accepted and merged quickly into WordPress or related projects. - Open to All Levels
Even if you’ve never contributed before, there will be orientation sessions to help you get started. - Strengthen Your Portfolio / Profile
Your contributions (code, translations, docs, reviews) show up in your WordPress profile. - Support the WordPress Ecosystem
Companies and individuals can use Contributor Day to fulfill the “Five for the Future” initiative by dedicating time to open source.
How It Works
- Table Leads
Each “Make WordPress” team will have one or more table leads who facilitate discussion and contributions in their area. - Multiple Teams
You can join one or several teams, depending on your interest (e.g. Core, Themes, Polyglots, Documentation, Testing, Plugins, Design, Support, Community, Meta). - Orientation / Welcome Session
A special session will be held for first-time contributors to get familiar with processes, tooling, and contribution guidelines. - Human Library / Mentorship
One-on-one mini sessions with experienced contributors (“books”) to help you ask questions, get career advice, or navigate contribution challenges. - Open Format
You decide how long to stay at a table or shift between tables. There’s flexibility based on your interest and comfort.
